Meet Dr. Magie Cook
Dr. Magie Cook, born Magdalena De La Cruz Cook Garcia, is a self-made business woman and the creator of Maggie’s All Natural Fresh Salsa’s & Dips, a multi-million dollar company that sold with Garden Fresh to Campbell’s Soup at a $231 million value.
Her life began in Mexico, where she grew up in an orphanage among 68 other “brothers and sisters.” Magie taught herself how to play basketball—a talent that would bring her to the U.S. on an athletic scholarship to the University of Charleston.
After college, she won a salsa-making contest unanimously and was given $800 to start her company by a person who recognized her passion and drive. Over the next few years, Magie focused on expanding the company nationwide in supermarket chains like Walmart, Sam’s Club, Whole Foods, and many more.
